Contact Lens Fitting
Contact lens examinations include a thorough examination of the front surface of the eye to determine if you are a good contact lens candidate. Our Optometrists have the expertise in providing the best possible lens recommendation for your visual and lifestyle needs. We stock all major brands of monthly and daily lenses.
Glaucoma is a condition that causes damage to the optic nerve at the back of the eye. This can cause the loss of eyesight, especially peripheral vision. If glaucoma is not treated, loss of vision may continue, leading to total blindness over time. We use tonometry, visual field tests as well as a retinal scan to assess possible damage to the optic nerve.
Pediatric Vision Assessment
It is important to have a functional eye exam before your child enters school to identify and correct any vision problems that may interfere with their learning and development. It is important to not only assess visual clarity but functionality as well.
Cycloplegic refraction is a procedure used to determine a patient’s complete refractive error by temporarily relaxing the muscles that aid in focusing the eye. Cycloplegic drops are used to temporarily relax the ciliary body. Sometimes the patient may be subconsciously over focusing. This can make someone appear more near sighted or less far sighted than they are. By dilating the eye the optometrist can determine the “true” refractive error.
Computer Vision Assessment
Computer vision syndrome describes a group of eye and vision related problems that result from prolonged computer, tablet and cell phone use. The most common symptoms include eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision and dry eyes. We determine the appropriate lens power needed to compensate for any refractive errors as well as testing how the eyes focus, move and work together. A blue anti reflective coating can be added to your lenses to block blue light emitted from your electronic devices. Blue light can disturb your wake and sleep cycle contributing to fatigue and eye strain.
